2 months ago I participated in a hackathon thing sponsored by @buildonbase that was supposed to showcase the speed and efficiency of Flashblocks, first of its kind for me. They gave everyone a consolation prize (0.05E) too. I wake up and open my email and I see this thing 🤣 Tax forms, physical address, date of birth, name, W8-BEN..all for what, $11.5 dollars in ethereum ..that's what it will be worth when I've finally received it, probably. Don't get me wrong it's not about the prize or anything, but the fact that this is so corporate and bs makes me bearish on Base. Did the $BALD deployer also have to fill out a form to cash out, it was a pretty sizeable amount. What about those $FRIEND tokens, backed but not endorsed by Paradigm? Did they have to file a tax form when they rugged us -99%? This is the furthest thing from the cypherpunk builder vision and it's extremely pozzed (as the kids say these days) and unbased - the Chinese and 3rd world country people know how to do business, especially in crypto. And it's about less roadblocks, not more roadblocks. I just noticed checking my X DMs @jessepollak dm'd me a few days back about what can Base do to be better, well...this would be a good start. Don't make people who have nothing to do with the USA have to fill out bs soft-kyc tax forms to receive a pittance of consolation prizes, that would be a good start lmao.
