The payment system is designed to keep costs steady in fiat terms, so users aren’t affected by significant fluctuations in the WAL token’s price over time.
When you pay for storage, you’re essentially locking in a set period for your data to be kept safe. The WAL you pay upfront is distributed over that time and paid to storage nodes and stakers for providing the service.
This setup keeps the network financially healthy while giving users confidence that their files will remain secure and accessible.
To kick things off, Walrus has allocated 10% of WAL’s supply for subsidies in the early stages.
