Here's a color coded post explaining the Aave interface if you want to get into borrowing through DeFi.
🟦 "Your supplies" is your collateral. It is what you lock into Aave to ensure you have tokens to back your loan. There can be an APY you earn from supplying assets to Aave.
🟥 "Your borrows" is the display of how many tokens you've borrowed using your collateral. The APY here is the cost of the loan, where the token amount you must pay back slowly grows over time accordingly.
🟪 Here is the list of different tokens you can borrow with your collateral along with their rates. You can borrow multiple tokens at a time and swap them.
🟩 Here is your calculated net worth of your collateral minus your borrows
🟨 This is the calculated APY considering your borrowing cost in relation to your total portfolio.
🟧 Risk factor is the health of your loan. It is suggested to stay above 1.5 since if it drops below 1.0, a liquidation event and fee will occur to push it up above 1.0.
In this case, I am using my LBTC as collateral so I don't have to sell my Bitcoin but can still use it's economic power by borrowing stablecoins. The ~5% APY cost isn't super cheap but not all debt is bad if you can outperform the cost of borrowing.
