We are all familiar with the crisis of digital trust. AI-generated deepfakes erode confidence in what we see, and misinformation disguised as authentic news photography spreads in an instant. For years, the problem has been framed as a defensive one: How do we prove what's real and fight what's fake? This is a critical challenge, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg. A much larger, more profound shift is happening beneath the surface. The internet is evolving into a machine-to-machine economy where AI agents transact automatically, RWAs are managed digitally, and DePIN requires auditable proof of work. In this emerging world, the core challenge is to establish a universal system of trust and tracking value for every interaction, whether human or machine. How do we create an auditable record of who used what, under which terms, and when value changed hands? This is the problem we want to solve.
Everyone’s talking about “AI chaos.” But the real question is: how do we trust what we see online again? Fake photos. AI voices. Deepfakes everywhere. It’s not just annoying, it’s dangerous for journalism, democracy, and reality itself. When everything looks real, what is real? The answer isn’t “ban AI.” It’s provenance, knowing where content comes from, who made it, and what’s been changed. @FilFoundation has been a great partner in this regard, to anchor media provenance on-chain. Every verified photo or video gets a cryptographic “birth certificate” stored across the decentralized Filecoin network. Real-world test: During Taiwan’s 2024 election, civil groups used our tools to record polling stations. Each capture was logged on the blockchain, no edits, no fakes, no take-backs. Truth, timestamped. Watermarks can be removed. Metadata can be wiped. But a decentralized record? Try erasing that. We’re proud to build the provenance layer for a more honest web. Huge shoutout to @FilFoundation for leading the charge on rebuilding digital trust with open, verifiable media.
